EUR/USD - COMMENT-US Recap: EUR/USD Trims Weekly Loss As Dollar Gives Way

The dollar fell on Friday amid profit-taking ahead of the weekend and investor optimism about U.S. corporate earnings and China stimulus efforts.

In U.S. data, single-family home building surged to a five-month high though building permits rose only marginally.

Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Raphael Bostic said he will be patient on cutting rates to make sure inflation does not stall out above the U.S. central bank's 2% target.

The euro rose amid short-covering as investor focus turns to euro zone October PMI next week.

Some European Central Bank governors at Thursday's rate-setting meeting made the case for dropping a pledge to keep policy tight as inflation may now turn out lower than anticipated only a few weeks ago, five sources told Reuters.
