EUR/USD - FX Options Hint At Pause In EUR/USD Decline - More Barriers

  • EUR/USD helped by solid Eurozone PMI data prints - new daily high 1.1269

  • Shorter dated expiry FX option implied volatility was already peaking prior

  • Benchmark 1-month expiry slips to 6.8 from multi month highs at 7.0

  • Price action consistent with stalling downside momentum, impending holiday

  • However, 1-month 5.3 to 6.3 before Dec Fed/ECB capture - so still very high

  • Setbacks should meet demand, likewise FX sellers expected on EUR recoveries

  • Tech and fundamental outlook keeps focus on EUR/USD downside

  • More option barriers from 1.1200 - every 50-pips to very big ones at 1.1000
