• Shares of copper miners rise tracking higher price of the red metal
• Benchmark three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange up 1.7% at $10,027 a metric ton
• Copper prices rise as traders bought to ship to the United States, where President Donald Trump is threatening to impose tariffs on imports of the industrial metal
• U.S.-listed shares of global mining giants Rio Tinto
and BHP Group climb 1.8% and 1.3%, respectively
• Copper miners Southern Copper and Freeport-McMoRan up 4.1% and 2.8%, respectively
• Canadian miners Teck Resources up 2%, First
Quantum Minerals up 1.5%, Hudbay Minerals up
3.7% and Ero Copper up 2%
